England’s limited-overs tour to India, scheduled for September and October, has been postponed.
Another fatal blow caused by the pandemic this year. England’s tour of India that was scheduled to take place just before the T20 World Cup has been postponed to next year. As a result England find themselves in a situation where they have no tours till Christmas.
However, 2021 will prove to be a busy year as England will face off first against Sri Lanka and then India. Two tests will be played against Sri Lanka in January. These tests were scheduled for March 2020 but had to be postponed due to COVID-19.
BCCI is currently in talks with ECB to organise a tour that will take place from late January to early March. India were all set to host five tests at the beginning of 2021 but after the pandemic hit, those tests will most likely have to be reduced to just three or four. This will be done to make way for limited over matches. Speaking of matches, only time will tell how coronavirus will dictate where the matches are being held.
As we all know by now, the IPL 2020 has not only been rescheduled to September but the venue has also been changed to UAE. We can only hope that normal cricket can resume as quickly as possible!
