With just 9 days to go to the start of the 2020 IPL season Sourav Ganguly has set off on his trip to Dubai.

It looks like the 2020 season is starting to take shape with the IPL schedule also being released earlier this week. The first games sees the defending champions Mumbai Indians take on the Chennai Super Kings. This game was originally scheduled to take place in India but due to the rising COVID cases in the market it was decided it was safer to host the event in the UAE.

In a post on instagram Ganguly, the BCCI president said  “My first flight in 6 months to dubai for IPL…crazy life changes,”. It is crazy to think the IPL may not have happened this year if the opening calendar had not appeared as a result of the postponement of the T20 World Cup in Austalia.

The IPL is a very lucrative tournament for the BCCI and the cancelation of it would have lead to a loss of Rs 4000 in revenue.

Although there are strict rules in place and matches have to be held behind closed doors it great to see the 2020 edition of the IPL go ahead.

We hope that there are no more surprises in 2020 to mess things up.
