Tall lanky fast bowler, Ishant Sharma is having a horrible year riddled with injuries. Sharma suffered an abdominal muscle tear while training in the Delhi Capitals camp. Delhi Capitals were somewhat hopeful that the fast bowler would be able to recuperate in time to join the team towards the end of IPL 2020.

However, as per reliable sources, Sharma has been ruled out of this year’s IPL completely. Sharma was only able to play one match before complaining about pain in his rib cage. The official statement by the team is as follows

“Ishant Sharma experienced an acute episode of left rib cage pain while bowling at a team training session on 7 October in Dubai. Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a left internal oblique muscle tear. This injury will unfortunately rule him out of the remainder of the IPL 2020,”

The news keeps on getting worse as the fast bowler might not recover in time for India’s tour of Australia later this year. This is a big blow for India as the fast bowler has shown tremendous improvement, especially in test cricket, and was considered a vital part of their bowling ahead.

Ishant Sharma was part of the team that helped India claim a historic test series win in Australia in 2018-2019. Sharma claimed 11 crucial wickets from three matches, bowling at an average of 23.82. Having made his debut in 2007, Sharma has picked 297 wickets from 97 test matches. In his last test match, the fast bowler bagged a five-wicket haul in his first innings
