The IPL is less than a week away and ‘Vi’ has been named as the 2020 IPL co-sponsor. Vi is from Vodafone Idea Limited  and is the newest brand to become a part of the IPL family ahead of the 13th edition of the Tournament starting on September 19th.

As a new brand, Vi is aiming to build a reputation with some of the biggest success stories, such as the IPL, and engage with its audience as it starts to carve out its strategy. 

Vodafon previously partnered with the IPL and has a long history with them since it first started back in 2008/ It has had some hugely successful campaigns over the years with one notable one including the ZooZoos. The new vodafone brand is aiming to build on its previous success stories with the IPL and cricket lovers.

In a recent interview, Kavita Nair, the Chief Digital Transformation and Brand Officer at Vodafone Idea Limited said “Cricket is religion in India, and Dream11 IPL as a property offers broader engagement with audience than just as a sport, over a two months’ window. As a company we have had a very long association with IPL. I am delighted that now, with the launch of Vi, we are carrying this legacy forward.

Our association with Dream11 IPL 2020 will provide Vi, instant connect with millions of viewers, and I am confident that this will not only help build awareness of Vi but also help in building relevance and customer confidence. I am sure Indians will be delighted to see us back on Dream11 IPL, albeit in a new avatar.
