With the Indian Premier League just around the corner the last we need hear right now is that there is an outbreak of COVID 19 in one of the teams. Unfortunately that is the news that I have to share today with all you cricket fans.

It has been confirmed that 12 players of the Chennai Super Kings have tested positive for COVID 19 with just 18 days to go to the start of the IPL season. Due to the outbreak Suresh Raina has been flown home to India which has lead to some nervousness within the team and amongst CSK fans.

Although there have been 12 confirmed cases within the team it has been confirmed that 10 of the cases are for non playing staff who are all in Dubai. The BCCI Preident Suarav Ganguly has said “I cannot comment on the situation of CSK. We will see if they can start as per schedule. I hope the IPL will be conducted well. We have a long schedule for the tournament and I sincerely hope everything will go on just fine.”

Due to the outbreak and the risk to other teams and also people in Dubai the CSK team has to quarantine and will not be able to train for at least 7 days. Shane Watson from the CSK camp has said this is ‘just a little hiccup’ and spirits are high within the CSK team that everything will be fine ahead of the return of the IPL.

What do you think? Will the IPL continue to see events like this unfold and ultimately lead to the cancellation of the IPL season?
