CSK Skipper MS Dhoni Gave Me Clarity Claims Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh gives CSK Skipper MS Dhoni for giving him clarity on his future in the Indian side. As you may recall, Yuvi was not considered for the 2019 World Cup and credits MS Dhoni for being transparent with him regarding his selection.

Yujraj Singh had the following to say when talking to News18 ““When I made my comeback Virat Kohli support me. Had he not backed me then I wouldn’t have made a comeback. But then it was Dhoni who showed me the correct picture on 2019 World Cup and that selectors are not looking at you,”

“He showed me the real picture. He gave me clarity. Jitna unse ho saka unhone kiya (He did as much as he could).”

This was not the first time Yuvi had been ignored for the world cup. Many will remember his questionable exclusion from the squad in 2015. Despite hitting back to back hundreds in the domestic circuit, Yuvi was not picked for the 2015 tournament.

Elaborating on how MS Dhoni gave him clarity, Yuvi said “Till the 2011 World Cup, MS had a lot of confidence in me and used to tell me that ‘you are my main player’.”

“But after coming back from illness the game changed and a lot of changes happened in the team. So as far as the 2015 World Cup is concerned, you can’t really pinpoint at something. So this is a very personal call.”

“So I understood that as a captain sometimes you can’t justify everything because at the end of the day you have to see how the country performs,” he remarked.

Yuvi also mentioned that he most enjoyed playing under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly mainly because of the support he received from now BCCI president.

Yuvraj Singh has had a career that most cricketers can only dream of. Staring in his first international cricket match at the age of 18, he went onto play for nearly two decades terrorising bowlers with his power hitting and masterful spin bowling. His demolishing act of Stuart Broad in the 2007 T20 World Cup made him an instant success. Finally Indians could rejoice as they now had their own version of Shahid Afridi.
